We are looking for a Specification Technologist to join our team. This is a 3 month fixed term contract which can be based remotely in Ireland or the UK.
This role will support the creation, management, and maintenance of product specifications for red meat products to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
This role works closely with the New Product Development (NPD) team, R&D, production, and quality assurance to ensure product specifications are accurate, up-to-date, and meet both internal and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Specification Development:
* Create and maintain detailed product specifications for red meat products, including fresh cuts and value-added offerings.
* Ensure specifications meet all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with the Product Development (PD) team, R&D, production, and procurement to gather and verify product information.
Compliance & Regulatory Support:
* Ensure all product specifications comply with relevant food safety, industry, and regulatory standards.
* Stay up-to-date with changes in food legislation, ensuring that product specifications are updated as needed.
* Support the creation and validation of legally compliant product labelling for red meat products.
Artwork Work Approval:
* Create pack copies based on product information shared & complete artwork review ensuring it is legally compliant.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Provide technical support and guidance on specification-related issues to internal teams.
Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of product specifications and related documentation.
* Communicate product specifications clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience:
* 2-4 years of experience in a specification technologist or similar role, ideally within the meat processing or food manufacturing industry.
* Familiarity with red meat products and regulatory compliance is highly advantageous.
* Experience with Artwork reviewing legal label compliance
* Must have experience with retailer spec systems
Skills:
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Sound understanding of food safety regulations, quality assurance processes, and product labelling requirements.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Education:
* A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
