The Grounds Services Team is responsible for managing and maintaining our forest landscape, including wildlife and biodiversity surveys. SENIOR CONSERVATION RANGER | €17.58 per hour
You will be responsible for supervising and leading the grounds team on a daily basis. Along with the Grounds Services Manager and Assistant Grounds Services Manager you will be assisting with the co-ordination of the daily and weekly works plan, ensuring all works are carried out on time, to the correct standard and in line with the company's health and safety policies.
As Senior Conservation Ranger, you will need to ensure all works are also carried out in line with Environmental regulations and standards.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the organisation and supervision of the Grounds Services team ensuring adequate staff cover to specific tasks
Ensuring all equipment used by the department is maintained in a safe working condition
Leading the Ground Services team in accordance with the forestry works plan with a key outlook on habitat management and conservation
Working with and building relationships with key stakeholders, through the implementation of our Forest Management Plan
Management and development of village habitats, ensuring compliance in protection of habitats and species
Carrying out of wildlife surveys on density and identification of new and existing species of Flora and Fauna on site and working alongside external ecologists on village projects
Ensuring all works are carried out in a timely, safe and enthusiastic manner, ensuring good interaction with guests
This role also requires you to participate in the department's call-out rota as the senior representative of the department as required. You must be prepared to attend for additional duties during periods of adverse weather conditions.
HOURS OF WORK
You will be contracted to work 150 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week, but you will always receive at least your contracted hours each period.
As our village is open 365 days of the year, your working hours will include weekends, public / bank holidays and during Christmas and / or New Year on a rota basis with a premium rate of pay for hours worked on a Sunday.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, hardworking, with the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
Essential requirements:
FETAC level 2 / 3 in Conservation, Ecology, Countryside management or a similar field
A wide knowledge of wildlife, ideally with a specific personal interest in one study group
Experience of nature interpretation
Experience in the use of horticultural / agricultural / forestry machinery
Full clean Driving Licence, held for a minimum of 6 months
Desirable requirements:
Previous supervisory experience
