Job Title: Capital Project Accountant
This is an exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Capital Project Accountant. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage capital project costs, ensure sustainable financial reporting, and support procurement with project cost evaluation and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage capital project costs and ensure sustainable financial reporting.
* Support procurement with project cost evaluation and analysis.
* Monitor planned investments and expenditure timelines, track budget variances, and flag any potential risks or deviations.
* Assist in building maintenance, budget preparation, and monitoring open commitments and actual spend.
* Maintain the fixed asset register, asset verification, and disposals.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures in line with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Support internal and external audits, ensuring all compliance standards are met.
* Provide support for investment-related committees, including agenda preparation, minutes, documentation, and follow-up actions.
* Evaluate and support improvements to financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system upgrades and future enhancements, including financial planning and reporting tools.
* Recommend and support implementation of technology solutions that drive efficiencies and support strategic reporting needs.
* Ensure timely completion of all monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance submissions.
Requirements:
* Fully qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrable experience in investment appraisal and financial evaluation.
* Solid financial background in capital projects, including accounting, forecasting, and reporting responsibilities.
* Excellent understanding of financial systems, organisational processes, and corporate governance.
* Hands-on experience in project management and process improvement.
* Proficient in financial systems (e.g., SAP) and data reporting tools.
* Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
* Working knowledge of legislative frameworks and standards relevant to capital investment and sustainability reporting.
