Production Assistant (Timber Frame Manufacturing) DTE Manufacturing part of the Glennon Brothers Group is a leading Timber frame manufacturer in Ireland based in Longford. As a leader in the Green Tech industry, DTE Manufacturing is a growing, dynamic and innovative business with ambitious growth plans. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a production assistant to join our team. The role Reporting to the Plant manager the Production Assistant plays a critical role in the production process by managing the preparation, optimisation, and scheduling of timber cutting files, ensuring efficient material usage and smooth production flow. The Production Assistant is also responsible for monitoring timber stock levels, updating inventory records, and supporting the production team with technical documentation and machine programming. This role demands strong IT skills, attention to detail, a good understanding of timber frame manufacturing processes, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate. Key duties This role involves but is not limited to: Production Support Prepare, optimise, and manage CNC machine cutting files for timber materials. Use specialised software (e.g., CAD/CAM, HOMAG Cut Rite, or similar) to maximise material yields and minimise waste. Review and adjust cutting programs based on timber specifications, stock sizes, and production priorities. Support production staff by providing accurate and efficient cutting schedules Adhere to Plant Safety requirements and Health & Safety requirements relating to your work, assuming responsibility for those aspects of the H&S System over which you have control to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others. Stock and Inventory Management Monitor and manage stock levels of timber, sheet material, and related consumables. Update inventory management systems accurately and promptly. Ensure correct timber grades and sizes are allocated to each project based on production drawings. Liaise with procurement regarding low stock, incoming deliveries, and stock discrepancies. Planning stacking and production sequence Quality and Compliance Ensure that cutting files and material selections align with technical drawings and production specifications. Verify material quality before use and report any defects or issues. Data Management and Reporting Maintain accurate records of material usage, cutting efficiency, and waste. Track and report on timber stock consumption and projected material needs. Support initiatives to reduce waste and improve material yield. Work schedule This role is Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. The Candidate Proven experience in a production environment The ability to read and understand technical drawings Ability to utilize technical manuals, specifications, drawings/diagrams, schematics, and verbal instructions to perform tasks Strong IT skills Excellent written and verbal communication Excellent problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail Experience of timber frame manufacturing, carpentry or woodwork environment is desirable but not essential.
