OverviewAssociate Engineer (Drainage) to join a growing Infrastructure Design team. You will work across a portfolio of projects across the UK, focusing on rail, highways and water, with opportunities to support across different sectors and global projects. This role involves collaboration on projects and delivering engineering solutions in the drainage discipline.ResponsibilitiesManaging and coordinating delivery of your discipline's work to time and budget, ensuring a high standard of technical quality and compliance with internal management systems across the project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design, including site supervision where required.Production of drainage designs, assessments and checking others’ work, including preparation or checking models, calculations, written reports, specifications and other contract deliverables.Ensuring that designs, assessments and checks are in accordance with current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice.Supervising a team of engineers and technicians, mentoring and developing less experienced engineers and technicians within project teams, and maximizing training and development opportunities with line management support.Developing and maintaining client relationships through project work, including identifying and realising potential business opportunities.Assisting with the preparation of bids and tenders and supporting Directors in pursuing business development opportunities.Required and Preferred SkillsAchieved Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) status with experience on multi-disciplinary projects.Experience in a railway design and build environment or highways drainage design, including understanding engineering interdependencies across the project life cycle.Evidence of undertaking CRE (Drainage) roles under the Engineering Management for Project standard (NR/L2/RSE/02009) would be advantageous for rail projects.Experience leading teams and working in multi-disciplinary projects in rail, highways, or water sectors.Strong analytical ability and solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, current design standards and drainage design tools and software.Experience undertaking or specifying drainage surveys; experience in catchment analysis, hydraulic design, pumping station design and legislative requirements.Effective communication with design teams, clients and contractors; good team leadership and mentoring skills.Understanding and application of CDM Regulations, risk assessment processes, and current standards and legislation, including the Common Safety Method.Full UK Driving Licence.About the role and companyAt COWI, we collaborate with customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world, applying knowledge and curiosity to create solutions that move us toward a better tomorrow.
