Overview
This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Role Description
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. Tridelta is an Irish-based biotechnology company specialising in the development of diagnostic assays specifically for animals. The company specialises particularly in Acute Phase Protein Assays for multiple domestic and commercial animals and is regarded as the leading company in this field. The role will entail full training and support in a dual manufacturing/laboratory environment, providing the successful candidate with multifaceted experience. The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience in the manufacturing steps of veterinary diagnostic products - from protein purification to bulk reagent manufacturing to scientific testing techniques. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a background in science who seeking to advance their career and to learn new skills or apply existing skills in a scientific environment. The role is fully site-based (Maynooth, Co Kildare). The successful applicant will be required to adhere strictly to all procedures and record-keeping duties as instructed by their mentor.
Training and Experience
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. The successful candidate will receive formal training in the following areas: bulk reagent and microplate manufacturing, protein purification, and in ELISA procedures. The candidate will also receive informal training in areas related to record keeping, scientific techniques, quality control, stock control and logistics. Full Health and Safety Training will also be provided.
