My client is a well-established engineering company based in Cork, supporting a diverse range of industrial and manufacturing operations across Ireland. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to lead the management and maintenance of our facilities, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and a safe working environment.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of facilities management across our engineering and production site. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the smooth operation of building services, contractor management, health & safety compliance, preventative maintenance programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
FM Contract Oversight - Manage full FM contracts across multiple commercial buildings nationwide.
Reactive & PPM Coordination - Schedule, assign, and oversee all reactive, preventative, and statutory maintenance tasks.
Remedial Works Management - Price, scope, approve, and coordinate remedial works from initial report to completion.
Subcontractor & Direct Labour Management - Vet, brief, direct, and oversee subcontractors and in-house engineers.
Client Reporting - Review engineer reports, ensure accuracy, and issue reports to clients.
Tender Pricing & Commercial Input - Prepare pricing for new tenders, variations, and remedial works.
Workforce Planning - Organise labour, allocate resources, and plan ahead for workload peaks.
Software & Workflow Management - Coordinate all works through the in-house FM software platform.
Team Leadership - Direct staff, support junior team members, and ensure high performance across the FM division.
Commercial Reviews - Prepare bi-weekly and monthly commercial updates for directors.
Performance & Forecasting - Track KPIs, hit targets, and forecast alongside the commercial division.
Client Relationship Management - Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Engineering, mechanical, electrical, building services, or trade background preferred.
Strong understanding of commercial FM operations, statutory compliance, and building systems.
Experience coordinating reactive, PPM, and remedial works.
Ability to price works, prepare tenders, and understand commercial drivers.
Confident managing subcontractors and direct labour.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Experience using FM or CAFM software.
Ability to work independently, make decisions, and lead a team.
Proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a positive personality.
