Emerald Locums are currently recruiting for a Senior Orthoptist to join a well‑established ophthalmic service in the Midlands, covering sites across Mullingar, Laoise, and Athlone. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic acute and community‑integrated setting, supporting both adult and paediatric patients. This role offers exposure to a broad range of ophthalmic and orthoptic services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team across multiple clinical sites. Both permanent and long‑term contract opportunities may be available, with a strong focus on service development, clinical governance, and patient‑centred care.

Duties
Provide comprehensive orthoptic assessments and treatments
Manage and prioritise a varied caseload independently and within a team
Work closely with ophthalmology consultants and wider MDT
Participate in clinical audits and service improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical records
Support the supervision and training of junior staff and students
Requirements
BSc (Hons) in Orthoptics or equivalent recognised qualification
Minimum of 3 years’ post‑qualification clinical experience
Registration with HCPC or eligibility for registration
Strong clinical, organisational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
