Key Responsibilities

Professional Responsibilities: Coordinate and deliver an effective and efficient Pectus Physiotherapy Service, based on assessment of needs.
Develop and administer the highest quality of service by identifying and implementing operational procedures in line with best practice standards.
Keep abreast of new developments, skills and technology to ensure continuing competence in the job.
Enhance skills to initiate and respond to changes in the work environment such as data analysis, clinical audit, continued professional development and research.
Management Responsibilities: Participate in the management of the Physiotherapy Service as a member of the Senior Physiotherapy Management team in cooperation with the Allied Therapy Manager.
Create and promote good working relationships through open communication.
Contribute to and participate in staff induction, staff appraisal and in‑service training programmes.
Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the position.
Maintain appropriate records and statistics sufficient for organisational and legal purposes, including work‑related injuries/incidents.
Regularly review and update Pectus Service Policies and Standard Operating Procedure documents.
Assist the Allied Therapy Manager in achieving Quality and Accreditation requirements for Physiotherapy.
Provide interdisciplinary education to promote physiotherapy service in Beacon Hospital.
Provide flexible assistance to the Allied Therapy Manager in delivering clinical care and in operational roles such as policy and procedure document updates and committee participation where required.
Staff Management: Lead by example a professional, dedicated and punctual team.
Encourage professional development of team members through promotion of self‑learning, formal courses and in‑service training.
NOTE: The hours of work are at the discretion of the Physiotherapy Manager and in line with service needs.

Qualifications

Must hold a degree in Physiotherapy, be registered with CORU and membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists desirable.
Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience in Orthopaedic or Musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Suitable postgraduate qualification in Orthopaedics or Musculoskeletal practice desirable.
Demonstrated application of expert clinical knowledge and reasoning skills in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient interventions.
Proficiency in clinical skills in line with current evidence‑based practice.
Holistic, patient‑focused approach embracing the multidisciplinary team perspective.
Use of evidence‑based outcome measures to evaluate efficacy of treatment and quality of care.
Balance of clinical demands with other responsibilities.
Leadership and educational role, e.g., mentor.
Research participation and generation of new knowledge in the specified area.
Dissemination of advanced ethical awareness and responsibilities.
Leadership understanding of service planning and critical context such as social, political and interprofessional collaboration.
Evidence of continuing professional development, e.g., Strength and Conditioning.
