Financial Accountant – South Tipperary
A unique opportunity to join a large, well-established farming and agri-business operation
Our client operates a significant farming enterprise in Co. Tipperary, encompassing tillage, beef production, and broad farm-based operations.
They are now seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their Farm Office team. This is a senior role offering variety, autonomy, and close collaboration with operational managers across a diverse and evolving business.
Overview
As a key member of the finance team, supported by the FC, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of farm operations and support the ongoing development of systems, reporting, and controls.
Core duties include:
* Overseeing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including:
o Reviewing and approving payments
o Preparing payment runs
o Cash management
o Posting monthly journals, accruals, and prepayments
o Reviewing and submitting VAT returnsSigning off monthly bank reconciliations
* Preparing monthly management accounts packs (P&L, Balance Sheet, cashflow analysis)
* Leading annual budget preparation and ongoing cashflow forecasting
* Preparing the year-end accounts file and liaising with external accountants and tax advisors
* Producing seasonal operational management reports (financial and narrative)
* Enhancing internal systems, processes, and financial controls
About You
The ideal candidate will be commercially focused, organised, and motivated to contribute within a dynamic agricultural environment. You will bring:
* A professional accounting qualification with 5+ years post-qualification experience
* Strong technical accounting skills, particularly in reporting, reconciliations, and analysis
* Experience with accounting systems and the ability to enhance existing processesProven ability in report writing and seasonal/periodic reporting
* A background or interest in agriculture or Department of Agriculture processes (an advantage, not essential)
* Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Attention to detail and a willingness to learn and contribute
* A full clean driving licence and access to a car
