RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGER (Research Fellow) Munster Technological University is recruiting an experienced Research Project manager to play a key role in the Circular Economy for Regenerative Tourism (CERT) research team.
CERT is an inter-disciplinary research team at Munster Technological University with an extensive portfolio of national and EU projects specialising in regenerative tourism, while also including circular economy, sustainability, community enterprise, digital innovation and education and training for the tourism sector.
Role: This role is focused on project management and coordination of CERT activities across national and EU funded projects.
The Research Project Manager will be expected to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment working closely with the Vice Dean Research & Innovation in the Faculty of Business to deliver the application, planning, activation, delivery and monitoring of all project activities including budgeting, reporting, data & risk management and mitigation.
This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, project management expertise and experience, stakeholder engagement and a passion for regenerative tourism, sustainability and education & training.
This role is key to developing MTU as a global leader in Regenerative Tourism.
Roles and Responsibilities Research: Define team research objectives and ensure alignment with team activities.
Manage team activities including multiple EU co-funded research projects.
Independently conduct a specific programme of research and scholarship.
Lead and execute project activities to achieve deliverables.
Project reporting and quality assurance.
Disseminate the outcomes of the research, including in peer-reviewed academic publications of international standing.
Contribute to the development of the research strategy within Faculty of Business and the University, as applicable.
Support and encourage interdisciplinary research across the University.
Plan and implement commercial and consultancy activities, as appropriate.
Liaise with academic departments to deliver educational programmes (including micro-credentials, masters programmes) to meet industry requirements.
Engage in relevant professional training and development opportunities as required.
Engage in teaching & tutoring activities as required.
Knowledge Transfer Activities: Facilitate the dissemination of best practices, research findings and new knowledge to stakeholders across the tourism sector.
Organise workshops, webinars, conferences and events to promote knowledge exchange between academia, industry and policymakers.
Administration/Management: Manage project budgets, timelines and resources to ensure successful delivery of projects.
Take responsibility for administrative and management tasks associated with the research programme(s) including research ethics, data & risk management and mitigation.
Provide training, expert advice and/or mentoring to new members of the team and students, as appropriate.
Take responsibility for growing the research team and cultivating an inclusive multi-disciplinary working environment.
Carry out additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post.
Funding: Independently identify research objectives, identify and assess potential funding sources for alignment and prepare associated funding bids/grant proposals.
Prepare, manage and report budgets for specific projects and across the Research team.
Contribute to commercial application as appropriate.
Engage & network with internal and external stakeholders, including relevant academic and industry partners or collaborators.
Applicants must have: Education/Experience Postgraduate qualification (min level 9) in a related field.
Extensive experience in tourism, demonstrating experience in collaborative projects across a number of countries Demonstrable capability to conduct independent research Track record of contributing to funding acquisition Proven experience in project management of multiple projects, including project management tools, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Excellent presentation and reporting skills Excellent communication (including communicating research to diverse audiences), networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work well in teams and support development of others, as well as a strong ability to work on own initiative Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience in facilitating knowledge transfer and capacity-building initiatives with a range of stakeholders Experience in design and development of education & training programmes and related digital tools.
Passion for tourism and sustainability and advancing a regenerative approach to tourism Full drivers licence and personal vehicle for site visits.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Passport and relevant visas and availability to travel within Europe to project meetings Desirable: Professional competency in one or more European languages Ability to work across disciplines and faculties to deliver interdisciplinary approach.
Familiarity with research in the context of an academic institution Salary:An annual salary of €65,889 will apply.
