Role Summary
The Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by selling a multi-vendor portfolio of genomics, next generation sequencing, and laboratory automation products within an assigned territory.
This role focuses on developing strong customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and acting as the primary interface between customers and our manufacturing partners.
Key Responsibilities
Territory & Account Management
Manage and grow an assigned territory, including academic, clinical, biotech, and pharmaceutical accounts
Develop strong relationships with scientists, lab managers, purchasing teams, and key decision-makers
Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions across multiple vendor product lines
Maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurate forecasts
Sales Execution
Promote and sell genomics, next generation sequencing, and laboratory automation products, including instruments, consumables, and services
Coordinate product demonstrations, evaluations, and technical discussions with vendor specialists or Field Application Scientists
Lead the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through closing and post-sale follow-up
Meet or exceed individual and territory sales targets
Vendor & Partner Coordination
Act as the primary local representative for manufacturing partners
Collaborate with vendor sales and technical teams to support complex opportunities
Stay current on vendor product updates, competitive positioning, and pricing strategies
Ensure compliance with vendor agreements and territory rules
Market Development
Identify emerging market trends, new technologies, and customer requirements
Provide feedback to internal teams and suppliers on market needs and competitive activity
Represent the company and vendor partners at conferences, trade shows, and customer events
Operational Responsibilities
Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunity tracking and forecasting
Support quotations, tenders, and procurement processes
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term account retention
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's, master's or PhD in Cell Biology or Molecular Biology
2+ years of sales experience in life science tools, genomics, next generation sequencing, or laboratory automation
Strong understanding of molecular biology workflows and laboratory environments
Proven ability to manage a territory and close sales opportunities
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
Ability to balance multiple vendor product lines and priorities
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory
