Big Data SRE Engineer
Join our dynamic team as a Big Data SRE Engineer and play a pivotal role in enhancing the reliability and performance of critical cloud services We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled engineer to join our client's cloud system engineering department in Dublin.
What You'll Do:
Engage in the Full Lifecycle: Be part of the entire service lifecycle, from inception and design to deployment, operation and refinement.
Ensure Reliability: Maintain reliable, fault-tolerant and scalable data services and infrastructures.
Monitor System Health: Keep a close eye on availability, latency and overall system health. Engage in sustainable incident response and conduct blameless post-mortems.
Design Big Data Solutions: Create robust, scalable and extensible big data systems that support core products and business needs.
What We're Looking For:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Solid understanding of data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
* Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, ClickHouse, Hive, and other related technologies for basic operations and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of ETL design, dimensional modelling and various strategies for data ingestion, modelling and processing.
* Experience with running production-grade services at scale and understanding cloud-native technologies.
* Ability to develop tools and APIs to minimise human interaction with systems, adhering to coding and scripting standards.
* Expertise in designing, analysing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems (experience with Hadoop, M/R, Hive, Spark, Flume, Kafka, ClickHouse, Flink, or similar solutions is a plus).
* A systematic problem-solving approach, effective communication skills and a strong sense of initiative.
