Purpose of the role
To assist with design, implementation, testing, commissioning and maintaining control automation and monitoring projects of varying sizes and types, based around BMS, PLC, SCADA & Power Monitoring/Metering Products.
Duties and responsibilities in this position are
1. Be responsible for carrying out the implementation and testing of project system software based on agreed design.
2. Be responsible for carrying out any required third-party interface factory testing.
3. Be responsible for carrying out on-site pre-commissioning and commissioning of control, automation and monitoring projects.
4. Be responsible for providing maintenance support of control, automation and monitoring projects.
5. Be responsible for ensuring that all appropriate test and commissioning documentation is created, completed, signed (if required) and maintained in real time.
6. Maintain accurate and timely communication with the ABEC Project Manager and project Lead Engineer.
7. Provide on-site coordination with client and subcontractors as needed / directed by the ABEC project manager and/or project lead engineer.
8. Be responsible for ensuring tasks are accurately recorded on timesheets and complete expense claims on time.
9. Provide regular progress updates / engineer reports to project managers.
10. Ensure that all issues / snags / delays are recorded and communicated to the project managers.
11. Be responsible in ensuring work efficiency is maintained to complete tasks within, or ahead of, allocated time frames / schedule and within allocated budgets.
12. Consider and review alternative engineering methods to improve quality and cost.
13. Be responsible for ensuring standards of workmanship are of the highest quality.
14. Be responsible for demonstrating, training and operational handover of the system.
15. Ensure that all health and safety procedures and standards are followed on site. Report any concerns to the main contractor, end client and the ABEC project manager.
Results required for this position
1. Meet required project deadlines and ensure that testing / commissioning schedules are adhered to.
2. Be a valued team player and be customer / contractor focused.
3. All required factory test and site commissioning documentation is completed on time and signed by appropriate parties. Copies are available on ABEC project folders.
4. All maintenance activities are recorded, completed and signed off.
5. Timesheets and expenses completed accurately and issued on time.
6. Support, and learn required skills from, the project lead engineers.
7. Create regular reports detailing snags, issues, delays and ensure all information is communicated/issued to the ABEC project manager and the on-site teams.
8. Suggest Testing and Commissioning methodologies / tools to the ABEC project manager and Engineering Manager (Major Projects) to improve quality, profit margins and ensure on-site engineering cost savings.
9. Provide quality customer service and support which leads to good customer feedback and ultimately more future work.

Knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position
1. Proven skills to assist with the design and to implement, test, commission and maintain BMS / SCADA / PLC (Automation / Control / Monitoring) and Metering solutions.
2. Good BMS / SCADA / PLC and metering system product knowledge.
3. Good working knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical services.
4. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Experience which is needed for this position
1. Experience within the 'Data Centre' sector (BMS, PLC, SCADA & Power Monitoring/Metering).
2. Experience in implementing, testing and commissioning BMS, PLC, SCADA & Power Monitoring / Metering projects.
3. Experience in working in a service / maintenance team environment.
4. Experience in working with mechanical and electrical building services equipment.
5. Ability to read and understand building layout, panel and electrical / mechanical schematic drawings.
