Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our close-knit team in a well-established business operating in the Logistics sector. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Strategy, this is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the full financial reporting cycle, supporting strategic decision-making, and managing a small finance team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of the business, while upholding the values and culture of a family-owned enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed financial reporting packs and insightful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to logistics and warehousing operations.
* Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary to support operational and strategic reviews.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and sector-specific financial practices.
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Lead the preparation of the annual budget and maintain rolling forecasts, collaborating with operational managers across transport and warehousing functions.
* Provide scenario modelling and financial projections to support business planning and investment decisions.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
* Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity for day-to-day operations and capital investments.
* Oversee banking relationships and optimise working capital, including debtor and creditor management.
Payroll & Compliance
* Supervise the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with employment and tax regulations.
* Ensure timely and accurate submission of Revenue and Central Statistics Office (CSO) returns.
Audit & Governance
* Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors.
* Maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations.
Business Partnering
* Act as a trusted finance business partner to the Management Team, providing financial insights and support to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
* Translate financial data into actionable intelligence to support decision-making in logistics, fleet management, warehousing, and customer service.
* Manage, mentor, and develop a team of two finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
andidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* Minimum of 3–5 years of post-qualification experience in a finance leadership role, ideally within a logistics, transport, or warehousing environment.
* Proven track record of delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis.
* Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in a fast-paced operational setting.
* Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop others.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, small to medium sized business environment.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modelling).
* Experience with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software is advantageous.
