The Role
Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland's infrastructure.
The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored.
The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann's Capital Works pipeline.
The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann.
Asset Investment team is accountable for developing and managing Uisce Éireann's investment portfolio in line with business objectives and long-term strategies.
The function is required to develop and manage the investment portfolio to ensure the investment portfolio is optimised against business constraints.
They also support the business in achieving its required business outcomes, including information requirements, and conducting post-investment reviews for capital investments.
Reporting to the Asset Planning Portfolio Lead, the Asset Planning Engineer plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of asset investment activities across the asset functions.
This includes the development of processes for capturing and analysing asset data to manage service risk.
The role holder will work to support Uisce Éireann's Capital Investment Plan and to meet the investment data related needs of the business.
The Asset Planning Engineer will support the Asset Planning Lead Engineer's and Specialists in relation to the identification, approval and prioritisation of investment needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support the Lead Engineers at formal workshops in a water and wastewater project's lifecycle.
Support the Lead Engineers develop processes for collecting and analysing asset data to manage service risk.
Support the development of training and communications to embed process change within the business.
Support the continuous improvement of processes.
Analyse and interpret data and information from various sources required to input into service risk assessments.
Support the Asset Investments team to evaluate technical service risk assessments of assets to inform future investment needs.
Support the Asset Investment team to evaluate treatment and network system capacity to facilitate growth in the water and wastewater space.
Support Lead Engineers at meetings as required and prepare information to support decisions.
Provide input into progress reports and updates for Asset Investments.
Collaborate on key data improvement initiatives for critical information on all proposed water and wastewater projects.
Ensure appropriate information is adequately collated and managed data is to facilitate prioritisation of projects.
Support development of Asset Standards, Policies and Specifications.
Provide engineering support to the Asset Investments team as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Demonstrable experience of end-to-end portfolio delivery is required, with particular experience in the area of service risk is desirable.
Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience.
Experience in independently resolving customer challenges while maintaining high service standards.
Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives.
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and make improvement decisions that benefit the team/communities.
Proven track record in identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
Demonstrate the ability to fix safety issues quickly and look for improvements in line with business strategy.
