Job Description
* 1‑3 years’ previous experience as an HGV Driver is required.
* Applicants must hold an equivalent category to a category CE or C1E driving licence under a mutual recognition agreement between the Road Safety Authority and the appropriate regulatory authority in another jurisdiction.
* No minimum academic requirements. Further training will be provided on‑the‑job as required.
* Safely operate HGVs, including loading and unloading cargo.
* Deliver goods to specified locations, ensuring they arrive on time and in good condition.
* Conduct daily vehicle checks and routine maintenance reporting to ensure roadworthiness.
* Comply with all driving regulations, including EU and Irish transport laws (tachograph and driver’s hours regulations).
* Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery notes and logbooks.
* Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, and team members to resolve delivery issues.
* Follow safety protocols for transporting hazardous materials (if applicable).
* Ensure the security of cargo during transit.
* Essential knowledge of transport environment, mechanical components of vehicles, road traffic laws, transport legislation, types of cargo, and vehicle cargo capacity.
* Essential skills: anticipate foreseeable problems on the road, control vehicle performance, interpret traffic signals, maintain concentration for long periods, operate GPS systems, and read maps.
* Competence to parallel park, practice emergency stops, and supervise loading and unloading of cargo.
* Experience driving a cargo truck in both urban and rural environments.
Annual remuneration: €41,999.88; Pay rate €20.71 per hour.
Work location: Ballygorman Construction Limited, McCarron’s Yard, Tully Allen, Co. Louth, and various sites in Ireland per current projects.
Number of hours per week: 39.
