Coffey is now hiring a Senior Project Engineer based in Little Island, Co. Cork.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Technical Reviews
: Carry out regular design reviews to ensure structural steel, cladding, and building works meet project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
* Site Supervision
: Oversee daily civil and structural activities on site, including supervision of subcontractors, monitoring progress, and ensuring all works are executed in line with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
* Project Management
: Manage projects or key elements of projects from inception to completion, including planning, resourcing, scheduling, and cost control.
* Construction & Installation
: Ensure the safe and efficient erection of structural steel, installation of cladding systems, and completion of associated building works.
* Quality Control
: Implement and enforce quality procedures, conducting inspections of steelwork, cladding, and finishes. Address non-conformities and ensure corrective measures are applied.
* Health & Safety
: Ensure strict compliance with health and safety legislation. Carry out regular inspections, promote a safety-first culture, and implement measures to mitigate risks on site.
* Commissioning & Handover
: Oversee completion, testing, and final inspections of structural and building elements to ensure handover is in line with client expectations.
* Coordination & Collaboration
: Liaise with design teams, consultants, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve technical and site issues. Maintain clear communication to ensure smooth delivery.
* Subcontractor Management
: Prepare scopes of work, manage subcontractor performance, and ensure delivery in accordance with project requirements.
* Documentation
: Maintain accurate records of drawings, inspections, progress reports, and handover documentation.
* Project Support
: Assist in site investigations, design coordination, and project planning across civil, structural, and building works.
About You
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management (or equivalent).
* 5+ years post-graduate experience in
structural steel, cladding, and building works
.
* Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
* Proven track record in managing subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent oral communication and written reporting skills.
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Full clean Irish/EU driving licence.
* Must be authorised to work in Ireland (no sponsorship available).
