Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week.2+ years' Dental Nursing experience essential.Highly proficient in English and eligible to work in Ireland is essential.A recognised Dental Nursing qualification is an advantage.Summary of RoleThe dental nurse is responsible for providing excellence in service through the efficient management of patients through the practice. The dental nurse will work in close partnership with the dental team, take instruction from the dentist and practice manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice; as set out by Dental Care Ireland and other regulatory bodies, including the Dental Council of Ireland.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with the principal dentist, providing chair side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient careEnsuring clinical tests and audits are completed as required on a daily/weekly/monthly basisEnsure that all tasks are fully compliant with the scope of practice as set out by the Dental Council of IrelandKeep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate, according to the practice's health and safety policy, manufacturers' instructions and the Code of Practice relating to infection control as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for the smooth running of the practice, and inform appointed staff member when stock levels diminishMaintain patient confidentiality at all timesEnsure that any incident relating to patient safety is notified to the Dental Surgeon and is recordedLiaise with reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of recordsWork with the practice manager to assist in training new members of the clinical support team as and when requiredWorking with the practice manager in handling and resolving patient complaints, if they arise in line with company guidelinesLiaising with the practice manager on any clinical dutiesAssisting the practice manager to achieve agreed company KPIsReporting any local facilities issues to the practice managerAssisting with reception duties where requiredEssential2+ years' Dental Nursing experienceLeaving Certificate or equivalentFluent in written and oral English6 months' Dental Nursing experienceMust have working knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and mailDesirableRecognised Dental Nurse qualification - added advantage.CapabilitiesUnderstanding of basic dental terminology & ability to chart dental recordsKnowledge of basic dental materials and the use of these materials in each specific area of dentistry.Knowledge of all relevant dental instruments as covered in the Dental Nursing curriculum.
