Assistant Director of Nursing
The role of the Assistant Director of Nursing is to support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day clinical and operational management of a nursing home, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care. This will involve working closely with the Director of Nursing to lead and supervise the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
Responsibilities include:
* Assisting the Director of Nursing in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
* Ensuring compliance with HIQA standards, national health policies, and all relevant legislation.
* Overseeing infection prevention and control measures and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
* Supporting, supervising, and mentoring nursing and care staff, promoting professional development.
* Participating in recruitment, rostering, performance appraisals, and team leadership.
* Acting as a key contact for residents and families, ensuring dignity, autonomy, and choice.
* Assisting with audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives, deputising for the DON as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in nursing management or a similar aged care setting.
* Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards, the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, and relevant legislation.
* Leadership training and/or a management qualification (e.g. QQI Level 6 in Management) is desirable.
