We are hiring: Climate Justice Policy Lead – Oxfam IrelandBe part of the solution.The world is burning. People are already dying from climate change, whole regions are under threat, extreme weather events are causing conflicts, rendering millions hungry and endangering our very future. The worst effects are being felt in countries who did not cause the crisis.In Oxfam Ireland we are working with colleagues from around the world to fight for a fairer future. Communities are grappling with the challenges and coming up with answers. Join us as we seek to tilt the balance back in nature's favour, design a truly just transition and rewrite the political and economic systems that have brought us to the brink.Help us to work with others to change the world.Key activities:Actively lead and develop research and robust evidence-based policy analysis, informed by country/regional programme experience, to influence key stakeholders at Irish, northern Irish, EU and global level.Produce high-quality written policy material on climate justice and other areas of Oxfam's work for public dissemination, including campaign literatureKeep up to date on the latest in academic and public policy developments in relevant policy areas and reflect these learnings back into the wider organisationOversee the commissioning and management of pieces of research in the areas of Climate Justice to underpin our advocacy work.Organise conferences and other events with Oxfam colleagues and with partners across the islandWork with the Oxfam International Secretariat in the development of research and policy and interpretate shared Oxfam policy for the Irish context.Support other departments across Oxfam to carry out influencing work in line with our operational plansWork closely with Oxfam's regional/country teams and policy/advocacy teams across the confederation where appropriate.Represent Oxfam Ireland and build strategic relationships on relevant Oxfam International working groups, in external coalitions, with academia and at lobbying/consultation events or conferences.Explore funding opportunities for advancing Oxfam Ireland's work in this area.Carry out any other activities within the scope of the role as required and agreed.Person specification:EssentialExperience of producing research and policy papers in climate or related areas.In-depth knowledge of Irish, EU and global policies on Climate Justice.Good knowledge and understanding of other key issues in the development sector and methods of political and public engagement.Third level qualification in relevant subject area.In-depth knowledge of regional, national and international institutions relevant to the delivery of new policy related to international development issues.Knowledge of political environment on the island of Ireland and how it relates to the organisation's work in terms of development issues .Experience of leading strategy development for an organisation.Right to work in ROI and UK.DesirableMasters Qualification in relevant subject area.Experience of undertaking gender analyses related to policy and advocacy work.Experience of working directly with policy makers in Ireland and the EU.Experience in representing organisations in media and other public fora.Experience advocating and campaigning, especially in conjunction with other civil society organisations and grassroots movements.Demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of innovative, multi-channel advocacy.Track record in building networks and influencing with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills for engagement with a wide variety of audiences.Qualifications & RequirementsExcellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex messages in an accessible manner for a variety of audiences.Ability to work well across diverse teams, bring positivity and enthusiasm to the task at hand as well as strong problem-solving skills and trustworthiness.Strong administration, organisational and time management skills.Ability to work on own initiative and independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team and wider department.Ability and willingness to travel, both at home and abroad if required.Flexible in working hours – ability to work evening and weekends if needed.For more details please check the Job Description & Personnel SpecificationHow to applyPlease submit a CV and Cover letter by Wednesday 26th November 2025Interviews to be held the week of the 8th December 2025please email copy of your CV and cover letter to the HR Team onirl-*Please note that applications without a cover letter will not be considered.Additional informationOxfam Ireland reserves the right to enhance criteria to facilitate shortlisting.Any offer of employment with Oxfam Ireland is subject to receipt of satisfactory references, right to work checks, and anti-fraud and corruption screening.Oxfam Ireland is an equal opportunities employer.Closing Date26/11/2025DepartmentPolicy & AdvocacyJob TitleClimate Justice Policy LeadSalary€41,750 - €49,329/ £36,120 - £42,676.98CityDublin or Belfast BasedCountryNI or ROI
