12 month contract | 5 days onsite in Dublin

Overview:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to join our client, a leading multinational company in the tech sector.

This role sits within a specialist engineering team focused on cooling and airflow modelling for large-scale infrastructure environments. You will work alongside senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders across design, construction, and sustainability to improve the performance and efficiency of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support CFD analysis of airflow and cooling performance in large-scale facilities using tools such as HELYX, OpenFOAM, ANSYS, or similar
* Post-process simulation results and prepare clear technical reports and visualisations for senior engineers
* Validate CFD models against real-world operational data and benchmarks
* Collaborate with design and sustainability teams to assess cooling performance and water use impacts
* Contribute to the development of in-house modelling tools for airflow and water usage
* Document assumptions, inputs, and interpretations for modelling workflows
* Participate in knowledge sharing and learn established standards and methodologies
* Occasionally support thermal or water modelling projects for experimental or emerging technologies

Essential Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or related field
* Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer fundamentals
* Practical experience with CFD software (HELYX, OpenFOAM, ANSYS, SimScale, Fluent, or equivalent)
* Basic Python scripting and Excel data analysis skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills:

* 1–3 years' experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services
* Understanding of psychrometrics, airside economisers, or evaporative cooling systems
* Experience automating CFD workflows using Python, bash, or macros
* Knowledge of sustainability metrics such as PUE or WUE
* Familiarity with tools such as Six Sigma, Reality DC Pro, or Rhino software
* Ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders

Why Join:

This is a unique opportunity to apply CFD skills to large-scale, real-world projects in an advanced engineering environment. You will gain exposure to cutting-edge computational workflows, access to specialist tools, and mentorship from experienced engineers, while contributing to high-performance, sustainable infrastructure initiatives.
