Quantity Surveyor – Mechanical & Electrical Location: West of Ireland / North-West / South-West (Regional Projects)Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Opportunity We are partnering with a well-established Irish mechanical and electrical contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyorto support the commercial delivery of M&E projects across regional sites.
This role is suited to a commercially focused quantity surveyor with experience in the mechanical and electrical sector, who is comfortable managing costs across multiple projects and working closely with project management and site teams.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Management Manage all commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical projects from pre-contract through to final account Prepare cost plans, budgets, and cash-flow forecasts for live projects Monitor project costs, identify variances, and report accurately to senior management Support project teams with commercial advice and cost control strategies Procurement & Subcontract Management Prepare and issue subcontract packages and tender enquiries Evaluate subcontractor and supplier returns and make recommendations for appointment Manage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts Maintain accurate records of procurement and contractual correspondence Valuations & Reporting Prepare monthly valuations and applications for payment Assess and agree subcontractor valuations Manage change control and variation accounts Assist in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out documentation Contractual & Risk Management Support the administration of contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations Identify commercial and contractual risks and assist in mitigation strategies Maintain accurate cost reporting and forecasting systems Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial alignment Liaise with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners as required Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes and systems Candidate Profile Essential Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within mechanical and electrical or building services contracting Strong understanding of M&E cost structures, procurement, and subcontract management Experience managing multiple live construction projects Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Full driving licence and willingness to travel regionally Desirable Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline Experience working on healthcare, pharmaceutical, commercial, or public sector projects Familiarity with standard forms of construction contract Experience working in BIM-enabled or coordinated project environments What's on Offer Competitive salary package aligned with experience Company vehicle Strong pipeline of regional projects Long-term career progression opportunities Supportive and collaborative team environment
