The Opportunity
Our Commercial business has set ambitious growth targets into 2028 and to help us to deliver on that goal we are now recruiting a Senior Liability Underwriter to join our hybrid-working team. This is a senior technical underwriting role within Allianz Ireland's Construction team, responsible for underwriting a mixture of complex Construction risks, with an element of multinational clients and exposure to portfolio business. The role requires deep technical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate global programme structures while ensuring alignment with Allianz Group standards and local regulatory requirements
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and underwrite large Construction (Contractors All Risks and Liability) renewals & new business risks, including multinational accounts with diverse exposures.
* Apply judgement and pricing discipline to deliver profitable growth
* Design and implement compliant multinational insurance programmes. Collaborate with global teams to ensure seamless delivery, from fronting and reinsurance to local servicing.
* Be the go-to expert for brokers and clients on complex submissions. Lead renewal & new business negotiations and represent Allianz Ireland with customers and at industry events.
* Engage with internal stakeholders in Sales and Distribution, Pricing and Portfolio management to negotiate terms to convert target prospects and conduct detailed risk assessment and acceptance within existing Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) framework agreements
* Provide technical guidance to junior underwriters and contribute to cross-skilling initiatives. Influence underwriting governance and support the evolution of our Target Operating Model.
* Collaborate with risk engineering, claims, and actuarial teams to deliver holistic risk solutions.
Key Requirements / Skills & Experience
* CIP/MDI/ACII or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
* Ambitious individual with 5 years+ experience in commercial underwriting, with strong expertise in Liability lines in the large risk environment.
* Construction / CAR / Renewable Energy / EAR / Inherent or Latent Defects experience would be a valuable addition.
* Understanding of multinational program structures, fronting arrangements, and global compliance requirements.
* Proven ability to assess complex risks & possess excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
* Experience in growth and achieving targets
