Financial Accountant Role Overview
Our client, a prominent Not For Profit organisation, is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for high-volume financial processes, month- and year-end reporting, and statutory compliance. This role offers excellent employee benefits and hybrid working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Record and monitor income from multiple sources on a regular basis.
2. Reconcile records across various systems.
3. Investigate anomalies, liaise with stakeholders, and perform trend/variance analysis.
4. Lead month, quarter, and year-end close processes.
5. Prepare key reconciliations (salaries, pensions, medical insurance, etc.).
6. Support management accounts and statutory reporting including audit schedules and liaison with auditors.
7. Ensure compliance with FRS 102 and Charities SORP.
8. Assist with annual budget preparation and uploads to the finance system.
9. Provide reconciliations and insights to support management reporting.
10. Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register.
11. Support payroll review and reconciliation, including BIK, pensions, and insurance.
12. Collaborate with HR and third-party providers on data accuracy and benefits.
13. Oversee stipend payments and annual reconciliations for key stakeholders.
14. Manage group health insurance policies and monthly reconciliations.
15. Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and systems.
16. Support testing and implementation of new system features and automations.
17. Maintain process documentation and training guides.
18. Support internal stakeholders through training and financial guidance.
Requirements
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with 3–5+ years post-qualification experience.
* Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, with knowledge of SORP, FRS 102, and the Charities Act.
* Proven experience in month-end/year-end processes, management accounts, and audit support.
* Proficient in financial systems; experience with AccountsIQ and Salesforce advantageous.
* Advanced Excel skills and strong data reconciliation capabilities.
* Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of internal controls and process automation.
* Experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector is highly desirable.
* Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and high-volume financial transactions.
