Uniphar – Who we areWith 3,000+ employees across Ireland, the UK, Europe, MENA, and the U.S., Uniphar partners with 200+ top pharmaco-medical manufacturers, delivering specialised, tech-enabled solutions through its three divisions: Medtech, Supply Chain & Retail, and Pharma.This opportunity is within Uniphar Medtech, a division focused on delivering innovative medical technologies and solutions.Purpose of the RoleReporting to the Finance Director and working with the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will manage the day-to-day activities of the Uniphar Medtech finance team, ensuring financial integrity and control over operational activities.Key duties and responsibilities:Reporting and ControlPrepare and consolidate timely and accurate monthly management accounts and TBs in line with Group timeframes.Review final GL balances, including month-end balance sheet reconciliations and P&L.Provide detailed financial insights on business performance monthly to the Finance Director and Group.Maintain financial control to prevent accounting surprises.Analyze KPI performance to identify trends, both positive and negative.Serve as the point of contact for all financial and control matters.Manage working capital, driving efficiencies and reductions in WC investment.Business PartnershipSupport strategic business and finance initiatives with the C&C Finance Director and Head of Finance.Conduct post-month-end reviews with business unit Directors, driving accountability.Respond to financial queries from Group Finance, the C&C Finance Director, and GM, ensuring timely resolution.Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organization.Coordinate AP and AR activities for timely GL close.Support the delivery of the annual statutory audit in collaboration with Group Finance.PeopleLead and guide the finance team effectively.Monitor team KPI performance monthly.Promote a culture of change management, challenging and improving processes.Provide development opportunities for team members and support their career growth.Plan workloads, conduct staff appraisals, and ensure personal development plans are in place.Mentor, supervise, and coach team members.ComplianceImplement improvements from internal audits, maintaining a best-in-class control framework.Ensure compliance with the Group Finance manual and processes.Foster a governance-conscious environment within the team.Oversee the annual statutory process and ensure readiness for audits.Manage all tax compliance matters, including Payroll taxes, VAT, Corporation tax, VIES, and Intrastat.ProcessesDrive continuous improvement in financial processes.Manage impacts of process changes and new systems.Challenge proposed changes to ensure optimal solutions.Simplify and standardize accounting and reporting processes aligned with business goals.GeneralManage relationships with auditors.Participate in ad hoc projects, including ERP upgrades.Perform additional tasks as suited to qualifications and experience, as directed.ExperienceACA accountant with at least 5 years PQE.Minimum of 3 years in a Financial Controller role.Proven experience managing a team of 10+ employees.Experience delivering management information and influencing senior management.Ability to meet tight deadlines.Thorough knowledge of Irish and UK tax law.CompetenciesStrong technical accounting skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for spotting trends.Organizational skills to handle multiple demands and deadlines.Effective team collaboration and confidentiality.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.Proven management skills with resource management experience.Proactive, issue-resolving mindset.Flexible, adaptable to change.Computer knowledgeKnowledge of Navision/BPC14 or similar ERP systems; BPC is advantageous.Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent Excel skills are essential.
