Operations Manager Job Description The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and strategic management of all transport operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and safety across the fleet and driver team. Key Responsibilities: Compliance & Records Management Maintain compliance folders, RTOL licenses, and regulatory documentation. Manage accident/incident records and liaise with third parties. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and company policies. Fleet & Scheduling Operations Oversee vehicle scheduling in collaboration with maintenance, ensuring alignment with service needs, driver capability, and legal requirements. Manage the driver roster, including daily and on-call operations. Monitor and reconcile operational data, including lost kilometres and smart tachograph implementation. Driver & Staff Management Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of drivers and operations staff. Approve annual leave and assign responsibilities. Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback. Foster a positive working culture and identify training opportunities. Incident & Service Management Act as the first responder for operational incidents, coordinating with internal departments. Conduct handovers and ensure smooth weekend and emergency coverage. Strategic Planning & Coordination Support the Head of Operations and Director General Manager in planning and reporting. Implement operations strategies in line with company goals. Collaborate with finance for capacity planning and with engineering for fleet readiness. Additional Duties Support external contractor coordination, parts collection, and destination formatting (Helen Programme). Ensure all drivers are equipped daily and spot-check rosters for compliance issues. Skills & Qualifications Essential: Holder of a valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence(CPC). Proven experience in managing transport operations within a regulated environment. Strong knowledge of road transport legislation, health & safety regulations, and fleet compliance requirements. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and support staff. Proficiency in scheduling systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Effective communication and decision-making abilities under pressure. Capacity management and forward planning for events, services, and workforce levels. Desirable: Experience with smart tachograph data analysis and implementation. Experience using scheduling software or tools and reconciling data like lost kilometres. Qualification in logistics, transport management, or related discipline. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to operational disruptions or accidents. Ability to identify operational inefficiencies or training gaps and take proactive action. Reporting Line: Reports to the Head of Operations and Director General Manager. Remuneration Package: Annual Salary: €55,000 - €65,000 Health Insurance: Comprehensive private health insurance coverage Annual Leave: Standard leave entitlement plus 6 additional days The closing date for applications is May 30th, 2025.
