Purpose of the role To prepare and respond to financial distress by developing and implementing recovery and resolution plans, assessing the financial viability of distressed entities, and advising on potential resolution strategies.
Accountabilities Developing and evaluating potential resolution strategies for distressed entities, analyzing the financial implications and potential impacts of each strategy.Developing and maintaining recovery and resolution plans for the bank's business units and entities, and assessing critical functions and dependencies to ensure continuity of essential services during distress.Analyzing financial data and assessing the viability of distressed entities to evaluate financial strength, capital position, and liquidity risks.Overseeing Barclays' Financial Crisis Management Framework and maintaining Barclays' Group Recovery Plan.Maintaining resolution capabilities across the Group and its Material Legal Entities; coordinating and delivering regulatory and public disclosures (UK and Europe).Ensuring appropriate controls, governance, and assurance processes to meet regulatory requirements.Maintaining valuation capabilities, including models, methodologies, processes, and documentation, with procedures to onboard external valuers if necessary.Conducting holistic testing of resolvability capabilities across multiple workstreams with Boards and senior executives.Supporting business stakeholders in meeting global regulatory requirements.Communicating with regulators regarding the bank's recovery and resolution activities.Director Expectations Managing a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, and influencing policy and procedures.Leading a large team or sub-function, embedding a performance culture, and coaching less experienced staff.Providing expert advice to senior management and committees to influence decisions.Managing resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.Ensuring compliance and regulatory adherence.Monitoring and influencing external environment, regulators, and advocacy groups.Demonstrating extensive knowledge of the function's integration with the business and industry practices.Using advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.Making strategic decisions and influencing stakeholders at senior levels.Acting as a principal contact and spokesperson for the function.All Senior Leaders are expected to embody the LEAD behaviours: Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others.
