Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of cutting-edge robotics and secondary packaging equipment.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for owning the mechanical design of bespoke automation and secondary packaging systems, producing detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks. They will also own projects from concept through to completion, including DQ, FAT, and SAT support, and ensure designs comply with GMP, CE, and industry-specific safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop complex mechanical systems, including bespoke automation and secondary packaging systems.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Controls, Electrical, and Project Management, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Mentor and coach junior mechanical designers and engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers.
* Continuously evaluate new technologies, materials, and design methodologies to improve machine performance and reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* 8+ years experience in mechanical design, with at least 5 in automation or special purpose machinery.
* Proven track record in the design of complex, high-speed mechanisms and packaging equipment.
* Expert-level proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and PDM systems.
* Strong understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, cams, and mechanical drives.
