Overview:

My client is a nationwide Irish company (established in 2006) specialising in drainage and waste-management services for domestic, commercial and industrial clients.

They offer services such as drain cleaning and unblocking, CCTV drain surveys, septic-tank and grease-trap emptying, hydro-demolition and rehabilitation of sewer systems, sludge and waste tankering, and treatment/recycling of liquid waste.

Job Description:

They are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Lead to oversee the delivery of key operational contracts. The Operations Lead is responsible for leading operational teams, delivering existing contracts efficiently and safely, and driving the growth of the business through team management.

The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to guide teams in technical decision-making while building strong relationships with clients, crews, and internal stakeholders. Full on site role with one day visiting work sites.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead, motivate, and support operational teams to ensure high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
2. Support teams with technical decision-making, troubleshooting, and implementation of best practices.
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, crews, and internal teams to promote collaboration and trust.
4. Drive business growth by actively contributing to tender preparation, pricing strategies, and supporting the award of new contracts.
5. Work closely with the CTO and senior management to align operational goals with business strategy.
6. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and team capability.
7. Participate in strategic planning for future projects, resource allocation, and team development.

Requirements:

8. Minimum 5 years' experience in a Contract Management or Project Management role, ideally within utilities, drainage, or environmental services.
9. Someone who is technically minded with prior experience in the utilities or construction industry.
10. Prior experience with contracts/project management is essential for this position.
11. Demonstrated experience managing teams, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
12. Solid technical knowledge of drainage, wastewater, or utility systems would be highly beneficial.
