HGV Mechanic Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Mechanic/Fitter to join our team and maintain a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, construction plant, and associated equipment.
This role involves routine maintenance, repairs, pre-use inspections, safety checks, and accurate record-keeping. The successful candidate will have strong diagnostic skills and experience in maintaining and repairing HGVs and construction plant.
* Routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, construction plant, and machinery.
* Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs on-site and in the workshop.
* Conducting pre-use inspections and safety checks on all plant and vehicle equipment.
You will be responsible for ordering spare parts, managing consumables, and responding to breakdowns promptly. A qualified background as an HGV Mechanic or Plant Fitter is essential, along with familiarity with health and safety procedures in a construction or civil engineering environment.
Key Requirements
* Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
* Experience with hydraulic systems, welding, and fabrication.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
