OverviewHead of Engineering – DublinOur client, in the aviation sector, is seeking a Head of Engineering. The post holder will manage the functions of the Product Engineering Group providing engineering support for the Commercial Aircraft Sector. The post holder will be the engineering representative on the leadership team and the Form 4 holder for the company.ResponsibilitiesProvide proactive day-to-day engineering support to production assembly and test areas by resolving issues, maintaining product integrity and influencing product cost.Develop repair capability within the framework of customer contracts and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, CAAC, etc.).Initiate clear production assembly/test instructions to operations personnel to maintain efficient production.Take responsibility for ensuring issues impacting quality, cost and delivery performance are identified and addressed promptly.Define and schedule the development of equipment to meet production requirements for operations, e.g., assembly fixtures, tools and test equipment.Provide support to other departments to maintain and improve product quality, first pass yield (FPY), production schedule and product cost objectives.Utilize common and/or develop unique repair processes to reduce turnaround time (TAT) and repair costs for out-of-production or in-production parts.Work within a team environment and apply lean principles to incorporate world-class repair processes into regional (global) commercial repair shops.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a Science and/or Engineering discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience).Proven technical expertise in the repair and overhaul of aircraft hardware, with a specific focus on engines.Awareness of aircraft engine technology and up-to-date market trends; solid understanding of regulatory requirements.Proven capabilities in Root Cause / Corrective Action, LEAN, Project Planning, Product line transfer and Data Acquisition and Analysis.Strong mentoring and leadership abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills.Candidates must be eligible to live and work in Ireland.The post holder must be a self-starter willing to make sound decisions and initiate action without prior counselling or direction. They must possess the technical knowledge and personal integrity to earn the respect of subordinates and other functions.
