We are seeking a motivated
Junior Accountant
to join our head office in
Sligo
. This role is designed for a newly qualified or part-qualified professional eager to manage essential financial operations while supporting the commercial success of our engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Control: Maintain and reconcile daily/monthly bank accounts, and manage petty cash and foreign exchange transactions.
* Transactional Management: Process purchase orders/invoices and maintain the sales ledger within our modern accounting systems.
* Commercial Support: Partner with senior engineers to manage debtor collections and resolve client billing queries, ensuring a proactive approach to cash flow.
* Project Administration: Oversee the accuracy of employee timesheets to ensure precise allocation of time and expenses to specific projects.
* Compliance & Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly/annual budgets, cashflow forecasts, and Revenue/Statutory returns.
* Internal Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for staff queries regarding payroll, expenses, and general finance administration.
Person Specification:
* Education: Minimum Level 8 degree in Accounting or Finance; ideally pursuing or exempt from early-stage professional exams (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA).
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel (v-lookups/pivot tables) and experience with cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Oracle, CoreTime, or similar).
* Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain financial requirements clearly to non-financial engineering staff.
* Attributes: High level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.

Sligo, Republic of Ireland, Jennings O'Donovan began in 1950.
