Associate R&D Engineer – Sustaining and Lifecycle Management
Location: Ballybrit, Galway - Site based role
Duration: 18 Month Contract
Hours: 39 hours per week

JnJ MedTech Neurovascular is recruiting for an Associate Research and Development Engineer located in Galway Ireland. The Associate R&D Engineer will work with the Sustaining and Lifecycle Management (LCM) team to support R&D activities associated with the portfolio of products for treatment of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. Overall responsibility for various aspects of the product’s lifecycle including device performance testing for material changes, process improvement, regulatory submissions, shelf life studies, responding to sales & marketing requests, and returned product investigations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and Execute Design Verification testing in GxP environment.
Data Analysis and Test Reporting
Collaoborate in defining evaluation and testing strategy for product/process changes
Support Refgulatory submission
Create and/or update component specification
Investigations on product complaints and analysis of returned devices
Support to CAPA and Non Conformance process.
Contribute to the project team to deliver key objectives, meeting performance, time and cost targets.
Leverage and liaise with external vendors / resources to achieve project goals.
Write procedures, protocols, specifications, and reports.
Understand physician (user) techniques and clinical needs (disease state) and assist in developing product training materials.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Honours degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
Approximately 12 months experience in a medical device design or manufacturing environment
Design and technical ability based on a broad and deep knowledge of fundamental engineering principles.
Data review and statistical methods skills (Minitab).
High level of technical writing and reporting skills.
Strong work ethic, creative problem solving, capable of working on own initiative.
Desirable Qualifications
Results and deadline driven with an ability to handle multiple tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Design experience with SolidWorks, prototyping, testing.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people to achieve results.
Highly motivated and an enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative and as a team player.
Specific experience on Medical Devices, cardiovascular or neurovascular implants or instruments.
