We currently have an excellent opportunity for an Investment Analyst to join our high performing Manager Research team at Mediolanum.
You will play a vital role in the research and selection of external Investment Managers across a diverse range of asset classes to support the creation of a broad range of Fund of Fund portfolios. Working directly with the Portfolio Management team, you will contribute to identifying the best fitted product for their needs and as a result, assist in delivering strong performance for our clients.
The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure by engaging with, interviewing, and visiting some of the most renowned asset managers globally and have an opportunity to conduct deep fundamental research focusing on qualitative aspects within the selection process.
Principal Duties of the position, including but not limited to:
Responsible for the identification and selection of managers for addition to the buy list.
Responsible for supervising current selected strategies on the buy list and recommending removal according to our monitoring process.
Engage and work alongside portfolio managers in the ongoing monitoring of existing and prospective fund investments.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the fund selection and monitoring process, particularly with a view to adding sound quantitative techniques which can build good efficiencies and deliver a more focused approach.
Maintain and develop our manager research database and records.
Work collegiately with the team across other asset classes as required.
Support compliance, regulatory, product specialist and legal functions as the need arises.
Ad hoc projects as required.
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to understand and communicate the key risks stemming from investment strategies.
A strong interest in investment markets and a high degree of proactivity.
Numeracy and accuracy as a pre-requisite as is the ability to work to deadlines in a team based environment.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong analytical and communication skills (both oral and written).
Sophisticated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Knowledge of Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment, Morningstar Direct and Style Analytics is an advantage but not a requirement.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience within manager research and selection (equity and/or fixed income) or direct investing.
Relevant third level qualification.
Preferably the candidate should have obtained or in the process of obtaining the CFA qualification.
Familiarity of the main asset classes with a strong knowledge of Equities and/or Fixed Income including associated styles / approaches.
