Job Title: Social Care Worker/ Support Worker

Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to provide high quality, person-centred care to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
Within this dynamic role you will be assisting service users with all aspects of daily living, including, personal care, communication and emotional support.
The role involves supporting service users to access community activities, education and developing practical life skills.
This role requires a compassionate and proactive approach to care, built on trust and respect, and delivered in line with GALRO policies and HIQA standards.
Support Worker Requirements:
* The candidate will hold a QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or related discipline.
* Be of an empathetic nature.
* Be enthusiastic and adaptable.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Have experience working in a regulated Social Care setting.
* Have the ability to understand and adhere to GALRO policies and procedures.
* Have flexible availability - including weekend work, sleepovers and night shifts.
Key Tasks Include:
* Provide emotional support to service users and liaise professionally with significant people in the service users life such as parents and siblings.
* Provide practical support, including personal care, housekeeping and medication management.
* Support and encourage service users to reach their goals and aspirations.
* Arrange and actively engage in age appropriate activity.
* Supervise service users in accordance with their support requirements.
* Liaise professionally with GP's, Behaviour Support Therapists, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.
* Be responsible for the upkeep of daily record keeping including daily reports, incident report, cleaning schedules, medication and administration records.
Social Care Worker Requirements:
* The candidate will hold a Level 7 degree in Social Care Practice or related discipline.
* Be of an empathetic nature.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Have strong organisational and report writing skills.
* Have a strong understanding of HIQA standards and principles.
* Have the ability to understand and adhere to GALRO policies and procedures.
* Have flexible availability - including weekend work, sleepovers and night shifts.

* Provide shift leadership when directed by line management and carry out lead staff duties.
* Provide emotional support to service users and liaise professionally with significant people in the service users life such as parents and siblings.
* Provide practical support, including personal care, housekeeping and medication management.
* Support and encourage service users to reach their goals and aspirations.
* Arrange and actively engage in age appropriate activity.
* Supervise service users in accordance with their support requirements.
* Liaise professionally with GP's, Behaviour Support Therapists, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.
