Logistics Supervisor / Container Terminal Operations Controller required by semi state logistics business.
The overall purpose of this role is to plan, control, administrate and coordinate the day-to-day operations whilst ensuring safety, quality service and operating efficiencies are achieved to optimise resources and minimise delays.
You will need to continuously communicate with operational staff, truck drivers and ships personnel in relation to operations Responsibilities / Principal Duties Determine operational priorities on your shift and to effectively manage and control productivity of handling equipment.
Operate the windows based Terminal Operations System (Auto-Store).
Plan and monitor the discharge and loading of containerships, trucks and trains.
Adhere to all Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
Plan and create stowage plans as required.
Manage terminal storage occupancy in order to optimise terminal efficiencies.
Recommend empty equipment for collection or shipment.
Maintain proper radio communication and act as focal point with a positive and motivating attitude towards colleagues and outside labour (truck drivers, vessel crew etc,) during ongoing operations.
Record and maintain all required documentation and logs.
Maintain high levels of customer service to key stakeholders.
The ideal Candidates must have: 3rd Level or equivalent experience in logistics, transport, maritime studies, port operations, supply chain management, or related field.
Proficiency in speaking, comprehension, reading and writing in English.
A familiarity and working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental policies in the similar industry.
Previous experience in Port, Logistics, Transport or Supply Chain.
Experience with Terminal or Transport Operating Systems (e.g. Auto-Store).
A familiarity in controlling and coordinating logistical processes (e.g. trucks cranes, reach-stackers, forklifts, etc.).
Proficiency in customer service and stakeholder management.
Knowledge of customs and port authority processes Prior stevedoring / port / marine / logistics / transport or warehouse operations experience.
Computer Literate with good keyboard skills and a working knowledge of windows-based applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
Physically fit with an ability to efficiently assist operations and undertake outdoor operations as required.
Ability to continuously communicate effectively with operational staff, agents, shipping line personnel, trucks drivers and ships crew.
Ability to work a shift roster (early morning, late evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays) and must be willing to work overtime as required.
