Automation & Control Systems Engineers – Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation & Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of the design, programming, and delivery of advanced smart factory solutions. This position offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from system architecture and development through to FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
* System Design & Delivery
* Lead the design and implementation of automation control systems, ensuring compliance with project scope, budget, and schedule.
* Produce detailed controls design documentation (CSVRA, SDS, VDS) in line with GAMP5 and 21 CFR Part 11.
* Testing & Validation
* Execute simulation, debugging, FAT, and SAT activities across the full lifecycle.
* Direct and support the build and debug phases, including commissioning on site.
* Collaboration & Leadership
* Work closely with project managers, electrical/mechanical designers, and software engineers to optimize system performance.
* Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance during equipment assembly and deployment.
* Technical Expertise
* Architect and configure automation platforms (FactoryTalk View SE, ThinManager, KepServerEX, MS SQL Server, SSRS).
* Develop and maintain advanced Rockwell PLC code (Ladder, Structured Text), FactoryTalk VBA, and SQL-based solutions.
* Contribute to innovation and product development initiatives to advance automation capabilities.
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years' experience in industrial automation, with proven leadership in system design and project delivery.
* Minimum 3 years in a GMP-regulated environment (Pharma, Life Sciences, Biotech, or Medical Devices) – essential requirement.
* Strong expertise in Allen Bradley systems, including servo motion control and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
* Solid understanding of Ethernet/IP, IO-Link, and other industrial communication protocols.
* Experience with robotics and vision system integration is advantageous.
* Background in SCADA/HMI system design desirable.
* Proven ability to deliver pharmaceutical-grade automation projects with full regulatory compliance.
* Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and system-level schematics.
* Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Candidate Profile
* Degree qualified in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Systems Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's level).
* At least 5 years' post-graduation industry experience in Controls, Automation, or Systems Engineering.
* Minimum 3 years working in GMP-regulated environments – only candidates with this background will be considered.
* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in client-facing roles.
* High level of attention to detail, organizational discipline, and project management skills.
