Overview
Our Dublin based client is looking for a Cloud Data Architect to join their team on a daily rate contract basis. This will be an initial 12 month contract with strong potential for extension beyond the contract length. The role is with a well known brand name company based in Dublin city and operates on a hybrid basis of 3 days per week on site with an excellent daily rate on offer. Ideally, candidates will have Azure and Databricks experience.
Job purpose
Own, drive and effectively communicate the migration of Data & AI architecture to Azure, including data ingestion, storage, operational consumption, data modelling, data warehousing, BI/analytics, advanced analytics & predictive model lifecycle management & integration. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategy and ensure data and solutions are understood at both business and technical levels.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and communicate the target architecture & validation with key business & IT stakeholders, using architecture templates and frameworks.
* Ensure compliance of solution architectural designs with the architecture and relevant policies (e.g., Security & Compliance).
* Work with IT teams (Development, DevOps, I&O, Security, etc.) and data analytics teams to serve as the central point of communication for all decisions around data architecture.
* Liaise with business representatives to understand and support business strategy, priorities and roadmap.
* Support the implementation of Cloud strategy and compliance with Group binding principles.
* Assess new technologies or alternatives via proof-of-concept investigations.
* Review existing solutions to identify risks and potential improvements (cost, efficiency, simplification).
* Engage with third parties where required.
Technical knowledge
* Design reliable, resilient, scalable, performant, and secure production data architectures.
* Data engineering basics: operational data storage, data warehousing design, BI & analytics, with supporting architectures.
* Modern approaches including advanced analytics, machine learning, Data Science & MLOps.
* Migrate on-premise data architectures to Azure PaaS data services, Data Lake & Lakehouse technology, Databricks, Azure ML and Cognitive Services.
* OpenShift, PowerBI, and practical hands-on experience in MLOps automation and lifecycle management.
* Networking, gateway & security infrastructure for on-premise integration and hybrid cloud.
* Analytical programming languages/environments: Python, R, SQL & .NET.
* Logical and physical data modelling and stakeholder engagement/negotiation.
Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to describe solutions at both technical and business levels.
* Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, facilitation and negotiation; self-motivated.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Ability to translate business needs into IT architecture requirements.
* Experience architecting in a regulated financial services environment.
