We're looking for a
Resident Engineer
to oversee a landmark civil and environmental engineering project across two sites in Galway and Mayo. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible environmental impact while working on complex and rewarding works.
About the Project
This project focuses on the environmental remediation and restoration of historic landfill sites. Works include:
* Earthworks and capping systems
* Drainage and gas collection infrastructure
* Environmental monitoring and compliance
* Ensuring EPA-standard restoration for sustainable land reuse
Your Role
As Resident Engineer, you will act as the on-site representative, responsible for day-to-day supervision, quality assurance, and contract compliance. You'll ensure that all works are completed to the highest safety, environmental, and technical standards, both on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and monitor site construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
* Maintain daily site records, reports, and photographic documentation.
* Review and approve method statements, inspection/test plans, and quality documentation.
* Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
* Liaise with the project team, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
* Certify works for payment and manage project documentation.
* Co-ordinate progress meetings and oversee testing and commissioning of systems.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
* 5+ years' experience in civil engineering: ideally in landfill, waste, or environmental remediation.
* Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Public Works Contracts.
* Excellent communication and reporting skills.
* Full, clean driver's licence with flexibility to travel between Galway and Mayo sites.
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it).
* Experience in local authority or EPA-regulated remediation projects.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS.
