Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Safety Officer to oversee health and safety across our sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting our site teams in achieving the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement and maintain the company's health and safety policies and procedures across projects
* Carry out regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments
* Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards
* Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training for staff and subcontractors
* Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions
* Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to promote safe systems of work
* Maintain and update all health and safety documentation for projects
* Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, clients, and regulatory bodies on safety matters
Requirements
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within civil engineering or construction
* Relevant Health & Safety qualification
* Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and best practice
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Computer literacy with strong reporting and record-keeping skills
