Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support our operational teams in delivering projects safely and to the highest industry standards.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a proactive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in our health and safety performance across all project sites.
Key Responsibilities: Provide expert advice and hands-on support to project teams to ensure full compliance with the company's Safety Management System.
Collaborate with management to ensure that all appointed safety roles are filled by competent personnel and that appropriate training is identified and delivered.
Oversee the development, approval, communication, and monitoring of risk assessments and safety systems.
Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of procedures covering lifting operations, temporary works, inductions, fire safety, emergency preparedness, permit systems, and other project-specific requirements.
Contribute to the establishment and operation of site safety committees.
Ensure that risks to third parties and subcontractors are identified, communicated, and managed appropriately.
Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the Group-wide Safety Management System through regular feedback and innovation.
Stay informed of current legislation, industry trends, and best practices in occupational health and safety, maintaining strong relationships with industry bodies and safety organisations.
Lead thorough investigations into incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports on health and safety performance to senior management.
Foster effective communication and strong working relationships across all levels of the business, including directors, project managers, and site personnel.
Champion the organisation's health and safety standards internally and externally.
Qualifications and Experience: Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of relevant Irish and EU Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to safety management.
