Senior Engineering Project Manager
The role of a Senior Engineering Project Manager involves overseeing the current NPI activities at the company for existing product lines and projects to support new technologies and capital equipment purchases.
1. NPI Gate Process:
* Review and approve NPI project proposals through the company's gate process, ensuring timely decision-making and effective resource allocation.
* Conduct research and collate competitive product information and data to support and prepare new product proposals for gate review meetings.
* Prepare technical and commercial feasibility studies (WiREs) for new product proposals as required, taking into account market trends and customer needs.
2. Project Management:
* Develop and manage project plans for projects, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling, to ensure successful project delivery.
* Establish project teams and resources, assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members to achieve project goals.
* Conduct regular project reviews with project teams and management to ensure all stakeholders are informed and up-to-date on project progress.
* Maintain accurate documentation of all aspects of the project, including project plans, status reports, and lessons learned.
3. Product Development/Obtaining Repair Approval:
* Maintain strong relationships with OEMs to facilitate repair approval processes, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions.
* Determine preferred technology and process equipment for repair, balancing quality and cost considerations.
* Support the development of best practices for introducing products and repairs, aligning with company procedures and industry standards.
4. Product/Project Introduction:
* Identify upfront requirements of key stakeholders, including production teams, quality, EH&S, and maintenance, to ensure seamless product introduction.
* Procure necessary equipment and materials for product introduction, adhering to company procedures and purchasing guidelines.
* Ensure timely provision of product information to commercial teams to support product launches.
* Conduct final project reviews with operations, quality, and EH&S teams to close out projects and transfer products to production, verifying compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Leadership:
* Provide direction and leadership to team members, empowering them to take ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
* Present project progress reports against agreed plans at management reviews, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
* Liaise with OEMs and design organisations to coordinate and expedite approval of substantiation packages, streamlining the certification process.
* Conduct post-project reviews to verify project success against budget, product cost, and schedule, documenting lessons learned to inform future projects.
