Join to apply for the C++ Software Engineer (Point of Sale) role at Transact Campus.

Transact+Cbord is the leader in innovative payment solutions for a connected campus. Our mission is to create compelling technology that uniquely simplifies campus operations and makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives. With a highly configurable, mobile‑centric campus technology ecosystem, we partner with higher education institutions to simplify the student experience across the full spectrum of student life.

Our products include solutions for Campus Payments, Campus ID, and Campus Commerce. Integrated Payment Solutions help students and families understand their financial obligations and payment options while also facilitating on‑or off‑campus purchasing. Campus ID Solutions can unlock a door, serve as an event ticket, or mark attendance, thanks to near field communication technology and close partnerships with Apple and Google. Campus IDs can also be used to streamline Campus Commerce.

With more than 36 years serving the higher education community, Transact provides services to more than 1,300 colleges and universities and assists more than 12 million customers with more than $45 billion in payments each year. Transact employs about 480 team members in the U.S., India, and Ireland.

You’ll play a key role in enhancing and supporting our industry‑leading Point of Sale software, which provides vital value‑add services to millions of students across universities in the U.S. Working as part of a collaborative Scrum team, you’ll contribute to the development, testing, and delivery of high‑quality software, while gaining exposure to our Azure‑hosted SaaS environment and modern CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain reliable, high‑quality software components.
* Collaborate closely with your Scrum team, QA engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver features from concept to release.
* Troubleshoot and resolve application issues through careful investigation and testing.
* Contribute to technical discussions and share ideas that improve the team’s approach and code quality.
* Participate actively in code reviews and follow established coding and version control practices.
* Assist in maintaining application quality during QA, and post‑release phases.
* Learn and apply appropriate data storage and retrieval techniques to meet application needs.
* Support ongoing improvements to our automation and CI/CD pipelines.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting refinements to our development processes and tools.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a thoughtful, curious, and collaborative engineer who thrives in a team that values respect, openness, and continuous learning. You enjoy solving problems, sharing ideas, and building software that delivers real value to users. You’re someone who takes pride in writing clean, maintainable code, and who’s eager to learn from others while contributing your own perspective. You believe that great products are built through trust and teamwork — where every voice is heard, and where we challenge ideas, not people. You communicate clearly, approach challenges with a positive attitude, and see feedback as an opportunity to grow. Above all, you care about contributing to a healthy, supportive engineering culture and doing work that makes a difference.

The Essentials

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
* 1–3 years of experience in professional software development using C++.
* Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles and a willingness to deepen your knowledge of design patterns and SOLID principles.
* Hands‑on experience and knowledge of unit testing, test‑driven development concepts, including the use of mock frameworks.
* Working knowledge of modern source‑control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or TFS.Experience with or understanding of defect tracking tools and workflows.
* Understanding of Agile development methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and an interest in working in a collaborative Agile environment.
* Basic understanding of continuous integration and delivery practices, with a desire to expand your skills in this area.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset with good attention to detail.
* Ability to understand technical requirements and break them down into actionable tasks with guidance as needed.
* Clear and confident communication skills, both written and spoken, in English.

Desirable But Non‑Essential

* Experience using UI libraries/frameworks such as QT.
* Python, C# .Net experience.
* Payments systems.
* Hardware or peripherals.

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package offered.
