About the Role


The Systems Analyst Application is a critical position responsible for overseeing the software management lifecycle of enterprise and clinical applications across UPMC’s international facilities. This role involves working under the direction of Applications Services Manager to ensure seamless management of software applications, from assessment and design to development and implementation.




Key Responsibilities



* Assessing and designing administrative and clinical systems, collecting and transforming large quantities of information into meaningful business requirements;

* Developing and modifying requirements documentation for the design and implementation of hospital administrative and clinical information systems;

* Critically evaluating information from various sources, distinguishing user needs from actual business needs, and partnering with business users, project managers, consultants, and IT leadership in optimizing the scope, benefits, and risks of actual and proposed projects;

* Ensuring continued optimization and alignment of UPMC's investment in software systems with evolving business and clinical requirements across all functional areas;

* Facilitating comprehensive programs and governance to select, maintain, support, and optimize applications such as Electronic Medical Record (EMR), clinical systems including LIS, RIS/PACS, Cardiology, Oncology, quality, etc.

* Partnering with project managers to complete requirements documentation in accordance with project schedule;

* Planning, organizing, facilitating, and leading meetings and workgroups, as well as overseeing and executing follow-up activities;

* Documenting changes to baseline requirements through standard change control process;

* Documenting software test plans, technical requirements, release notes, user, and training guidelines and other materials;

* Planning, coordinating, and supporting unit acceptance testing and subsequent deployments in coordination with other team leaders;

* Performing end-user and application support functions, including problem-solving and resolution of application function defects;

* Providing systems and application training;

* Developing and executing project presentations;

* Participating in special projects as required;

* Participating in the development of various departmental training initiatives;

* Managing application pipeline of requests, prioritizing with relevant stakeholders and application workgroups;

* Managing the full lifecycle of application integrations;

* Interviewing end-users, stakeholders, and project sponsors to assess business and clinical needs; creating business, functional, and technical requirements documents based on captured data and in accordance with departmental protocol/standards;

* Developing, implementing, and maintaining rigid upgrade/patching processes, including comprehensive testing (functional, unit, end-user), validation, and go-live decision making;

* Developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive training program for end-users, ensuring optimal use of all applications and their future improvements;

* Developing and maintaining a disciplined documentation strategy to ensure a complete and updated set of functional and technical requirements, evaluation criteria, process flows, operational routines, training materials, etc., and making them available across the organization as appropriate;

* Performing vendor management by maintaining oversight and escalations of all issues and product enhancements;

* Monitors vendor's performance in accordance with purchasing, services, and support contracts;

* In collaboration with technical team, facilitates direct end-user support escalations, incident response actions, and root cause analysis delivery upon resolution;

* Performs additional duties and management responsibilities as assigned;

* Facilitates successful completion of projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach;

* Works in collaboration with multiple teams and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts;

* Proficiently applies IT methods, professional knowledge, and UPMC standards and practices;

* Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day-to-day work and projects;

* Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with management, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends;

* Seeks feedback from management and team for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviours;

* Knowledge of GDPR and good knowledge of patient data is highly desirable.





Requirements


To be considered for this role, you will need:



* Experience in a hospital or clinic setting preferred;

* Experience supporting Patient Administration Systems, Electronic Medical Record System, Radiology/PACS systems;

* Experience with HL7, FHIR, API integration technologies;

* Healthcare Information Technology experience;

* Degree or certification in information technology, software life cycle management, or significant training in the support and maintenance of enterprise-level applications;

* 3-4 years' experience implementing, supporting, and/or training on one or more of the following enterprise-level applications: Electronic Medical Records, Patient Administration Off-hours support may be required.
