Restaurant Operations Manager Job Description
To assist in the management of a restaurant and its employees, deputizing in the absence of the management team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate staff requirements and rotas for all vital duties, under your remit, in conjunction with the management team.
* Resolve customer complaints regarding food service.
* Train employees in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
* Observe and evaluate workers and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service.
* Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
* Perform personnel actions such as hiring, employee exits, orientation, training, and scheduling.
* Set up and clear up of events and functions, and provide employee cover.
* Implement and maintain high standards in food hygiene, service, and presentation (HACCP & Health & Safety Legislation).
* Own the service of food and drink at each service point during service.
* Maintain a customer-focused approach, conducting service in a friendly and professional manner.
* Assist with service within the department during busy periods, including front of house duties.
* Advise management on service styles, menus, etc., to keep operations current and driven.
* Maintain an inventory of light equipment, including crockery, and assist with monthly stock takes.
* Undertake training to enhance personal skills and knowledge.
* Handle cash transactions accurately following company procedures.
* Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
* Comply with and promote company policies and procedures, using appropriate tools to drive engagement.
* Perform any other duties as requested by your line manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Able to lead, empower, and build relationships with team members.
* Proficient with IT packages such as Word, Excel, and stock ordering systems.
* Passionate about food and service.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Flexible regarding shifts and weekends, with ability to work independently.
* Solid understanding of Food Hygiene, HACCP, and health and safety legislation.
* Financial understanding of food costs and labor.
* Dedicated, self-motivated, and good timekeeping.
* Courteous manner.
* Previous management experience.
* At least two years' experience in a catering environment.
