We offer a highly competitive salary on the Senior Medical Scientist Scale, ranging from €66,667 to €88,021.
Job Description
The position requires a strategic approach to service development and quality improvement. Key responsibilities include supporting the Irish National Creutzfeldt Jacob Disease Surveillance Unit and developing clinical testing within Neuropathology and Histopathology Departments.
Essential duties include performing laboratory work to high professional standards, participating in staff training, ensuring compliance with international guidelines, and promoting continuing education and research activities.
You will be expected to actively participate in internal and external quality control and assist in evaluating equipment and consumables.
A strong emphasis is placed on confidentiality, safety procedures, and accident prevention and management.
This role will evolve over time as part of the hospital's strategic developments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in a relevant field including Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent qualification.
* NFQ Level 9 postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
* Four years' full-time experience in a laboratory since qualifying as a scientist.
* Demonstrated Continuous Professional Development.
In addition, experience working with Prion Diseases, Category 3 Biosafety Regulations, Neurodegenerative Disorders, Histopathology Techniques, and ISO15189 Accreditation would be favourable.
