We are seeking a motivated Test Engineer to join our team in Carrigtwohill. This role involves coordinating and carrying out testing activities, liaising with customers, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
· Assist in planning and prioritising the testing work schedule.
· Act as point of contact for CSI/Sales on testing projects, ensuring customers are kept updated.
· Coordinate the testing process from initial approach to verification of final reports.
· Carry out tests, record results, and prepare reports for customers.
· Receive, label, and safely store test samples.
· Determine and perform tests needed for analysis, and answer customer questions regarding results.
· Support customer visits to the Design & Test Centre, ensuring facilities are presentable.
· Follow Test Centre process flows and implement quality control systems.
· Support the upkeep of the Test Lab: waste management, cleanliness, and readiness for audits/visits.
· Maintain all lab equipment, including calibration, logs, and software compliance.
· Assist with technician training, documentation, and sign-offs.
· Contribute to department efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
· Degree in Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant technical field.
· 2+ years of experience in a highly regulated industry (desirable but not essential). Open to recent graduates with the right technical foundation.
· CAD proficiency: SolidWorks experience preferred.
· Knowledge of ISTA standards (desirable).
· Experience in packaging testing (vibration, compression, temperature control, etc.) an advantage.
· Ability to conduct packaging tests and analyse results against acceptance criteria.
· Exposure to medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical packaging development (desirable).
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to execute problem-solving techniques related to design.
· Mathematical ability (ratios, proportions, basic algebra).
· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; communicates effectively and positively.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and focused on continuous improvement.
· PC experience with Excel, Word, and common desktop applications.
· Familiarity with CAM machines (an advantage).
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with strict deadlines.
