Role: Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Commissioning Engineer
Location: West of Ireland (site-based, with some travel required)
Rate: € - € per day
Duration: 12 months (with potential for extension)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer to join a major power generation project. The role will focus on the upgrade and commissioning of Legacy and modern C&I systems, including boiler protection and burner management systems, within large-scale thermal generation units.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, manage interfaces between internal teams and contractors, and play a lead role in testing, commissioning, and acceptance of systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure all works are executed in line with statutory safety, health, and environmental standards.
2. Provide technical leadership on C&I engineering and commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, loop checks, function tests, and protection testing.
3. Oversee contractor and subcontractor activities on site, ensuring compliance with project scope, quality, and safety requirements.
4. Manage technical clarifications, documentation, and correspondence with contractors and consultants.
5. Support project planning, scheduling, and cost control in alignment with technical requirements.
6. Liaise with project managers, engineering teams, and site management to ensure successful delivery.
7. Prepare reports, test protocols, inspection reviews, and close-out documentation.
Required Experience & Skills
8. Minimum 7 years' post-qualification experience in power generation or comparable heavy industry.
9. Strong expertise in plant C&I systems, including DCS/PLC, HMI, instrumentation, safety/protection systems, and control networks.
10. Proven track record in commissioning large-scale or complex C&I projects.
11. Experience with plant operations, maintenance procedures, and industrial safety standards.
12. Strong stakeholder management, reporting, and communication skills.
13. Proficiency in MS Office and related tools.
14. Full driving licence and willingness to travel nationally/internationally as required.
Desirable
15. Experience with boiler protection and burner management systems (BMS).
16. Familiarity with Siemens T/T systems.
17. Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable CPD toward same.
18. Experience in thermal generation or comparable major infrastructure projects.
