UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Professor/Chair of Pharmaceutics and Director of Future Medicines.
The post holder will provide academic leadership in Pharmaceutics and strategic leadership for UCC Futures - Future medicines.
The successful candidate will report to the Heads of School & College of Medicine and Health, and will have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement and research leadership to lead the continued growth and development of collaborative, translational research programmes within UCC Futures - Future medicines.
The School of Pharmacy UCC has an established reputation for world-class, impactful research and is ranked in the top 100 globally by the QS World Rankings in Pharmacy and Pharmacology.
The post is aligned to UCC Futures - Future Medicines, a multidisciplinary team delivering next generation medicines and precision therapies.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with impactful, internationally recognised research expertise in Pharmaceutics/drug delivery/nanomedicines/precision medicine in disease areas of high unmet clinical need.
Responsibilities
The post holder will provide academic leadership in Pharmaceutics and strategic leadership for UCC Futures - Future Medicines as Director.
The successful candidate will lead the growth and development of collaborative, translational research programmes and demonstrate the ability to secure prestigious competitive funding.
The post holder will engage with internal and external partners, and contribute to high-impact research aligned with the UCC Futures - Future Medicines initiative.
Staff in the School of Pharmacy have an excellent track record in securing competitive research funding; the candidate is expected to contribute to securing funding such as ERC or equivalent high-profile grants.
Requirements / Qualifications
The candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement and research leadership in Pharmaceutics/drug delivery/nanomedicines/precision medicine, with a track record in translational and interdisciplinary research.
Experience in leading large research teams and securing competitive funding is highly desirable.

Salary and terms
Appointment may be made on the Professor Salary Scale: €144,298 - €182,426 (Scale B) / €137,083 - €176,166 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
